This Will Help You Fulfill Your Desires

The year was 2012, I was miserably sitting in my cubicle felt more like a prison cell working, searching the internet when I decided to take a break ignore all incoming calls. My journal happened to be sitting right next to me, and I decided to get some writing done look busy but not really working.

I wasn’t satisfied with my job despised it and had no idea what my exit plan would be how to quit honorably. At that point, I felt like I could only dream about what life would be like doing a job that I loved. So I did just that, I wrote down would I would do, had I not have to come in to that unfulfilling dreadful job every day.

From that day forward, when I was getting ready to go to bed, I would write again in my journal what life I wanted to live. Seriously I was like a kid in a candy store! I’d write pages and pages and most nights, I’d fall asleep with the pen still in my hand.

One day in late 2013, I picked up my journal and started to review it. I do this once in awhile to see what personal progress I’ve made. By then I had stopped writing about what my life would look like if I weren’t sitting in that cubicle. I no longer had to. Without even realizing it, I was living the exact life I had written about. Without even knowing it, I had already begun the process of creating my Perfect Day. (If you haven’t yet read that post read it next!)

So how does this process work? Is it pure magic? Are you supposed to just dream on your journal morning and night and magically your dream life comes about?

Here’s how part of it works, we all have beliefs. Some of our beliefs are so strong that we constantly are looking for evidence to confirm our beliefs and completely disregard information that doesn’t resonate with our strong beliefs.

Which is why sometimes affirmations don’t work. You can affirm that you love yourself until the cows come home but if you strongly believe that you don’t, your conscious mind will strongly reject your affirmation and emphasize how much you don’t love yourself. So the dialogue will go something like this:

You: I love myself. I love myself. I love myself. I love myself.

Your conscious mind: Bullsh*t. Bullsh*t. Bullsh*t.

You: Huh?

Your conscious mind: YOU HATE YOURSELF! Who are you trying to fool?!

Let’s just say you can’t easily trick your conscious mind into believing what you want it to.

In my Yoga Theory and Philosophy course, my instructor explained it in a way that I adored. She said, the conscious mind is like a guard for the unconscious mind; it determines which information it will accept and which it will reject.

It’s tough to get past this gatekeeper. So how do you sneak information in? You wait until the guard gets sleepy, duh! With a sleepy guard, it is easier to sneak in messages to the unconscious mind. This is why you should write or say your desires as soon as you wake up and right before bed- your unconscious mind is more likely to get your messages.

Why would I want to sneak in messages to the unconscious mind?

Glad you asked!

As an NLP practitioner (Neuro-Linguistic Programming wooo-hooo I got certified last month!) I learned that the conscious mind is the goal setter and the unconscious mind is the goal getter.

Aha! So this is why prayers are said at night before going to bed. Mystery solved.

You will see that with this method you will attract the people and circumstances you need to fulfill your desires. This is not to say that you should just sit back and just wait until dreams come true, the way I see it, if there is something you really want why wouldn’t you actively be on the path to obtaining it anyway?

    Thank you for sharing this. I do my best with affirmation and I see that the EGO is part of the conscious protecting the subconscious. I appreciate the messages and words of encouragement. Keep doing your thing.

      Yep, the ego intends on protecting us but sometimes it can be doing more damage than good. I am glad this resonated with you!
