PART 2: Stop Living Your Life on Autopilot

IlovenowI wanted to write a follow up post to the Stop Living Your Life on Autopilot! blog post because I love the topic and since there is so much to it, I felt I could express a few more necessary words.  If you have not had a chance to read it, I kindly suggest you do so prior to reading this post.  (It will make more sense.)

Since I started to bring my presence into every moment of my life I have began to experience the little magical shifts that occur when we are in the now.  You may ask; how do we keep memories alive and plan for the future if we are always in the now?

In my previous blog post, I mentioned that for many of us, our mind wanders into the past or into the future and we tend to lose focus on what is happening now.  I wanted to bring a little more insight on how we can keep our main focus on the moment at hand while still acknowledging the past and having a vision for the future.

It all begins with having the ability to see the big picture.  If you are able to recognize where you have been and where you want to go, you can then begin to take advantage of the power of presence.  Having a vision of where you want to be in the future and using skills that you have learned in the past is key; but you have to keep in mind that the future is created with today’s breath and today’s moments. The energy vibration that you create in this moment will be the foundation that you will set for future moments.  Oprah says it best when she says,

“ Doing the best in this moment, puts you in the best place for the next moment.”

You can think about it like reading a book.  If you have set your mind to read a book, your ultimate goal is to finish the book.  Typically a book is read word for word, page by page, until at last, you have read the entire book.  For effective reading you don’t read a few pages and read the rest of the book with your focus on those two pages. You read page by page and acquire knowledge as you go, but you keep your focus on what you are currently reading and you eventually reach your ultimate goal of reading a whole book and retaining all of the knowledge and wisdom you hoped the book would provide.

When I read a good book, I don’t rush through the words or have my focus on something else, I pay close attention to what I am reading and savor every word to make the pleasurable experience last longer.  I like to think of my life as a good book and every moment of it as the words that fill the book.

If you have a clear vision of your future and you are willing to attain it your subconscious mind will work its magic to get you the future you invisioned.  You will then be responsible for just showing up in your life and doing your best in the now.  Luckily we only deal with life one moment at a time, if you can take Oprah’s advice and do your best in the one moment you are in, then you will be set up to do the best in the next.  Find a way to enjoy doing your best in these moments so you are able to vibrate at a higher energy and attract the best in your future moments.

You will begin to see that all these little best moments will add up and soon you will be living your most beautiful life.  When you being to see your life change for the better, you will want to continue to bring your presence to your future moments and do your best. You will notice that your best will become better and better every time, but like everything else, it just takes practice.

So my dear reader, keep your eye on the big picture but don’t lose focus on the moment.
